"Mit 18" is a fantastic opener, a song where Marius Müller-Westernhagen strangely anticipates his own decay in music business for the years to come, and all that while rocking your shoes off:

ja was mir fe-ehlt
das is' 'ne richtige Dröhnung ...

What follows is a broadside of songs ranging from good to genius. Both LP sides are remarkable, but especially side two is fabulous in diversity, sarcasm, great songwriting and great lyrics.

A true classic in German rock music.

Es gibt schon merkwürdige Synchronizitäten. Erst dieses Jahr nahm ich das Original als CD aus dem Durchgang mit, wo Leute ihr Zeug hinlegen, was sie zu Schade zum wegwerfen finden. Mein Vinyl war ziemlich abgeliebt und ist längst verschwunden, also, warum nicht?
Und jetzt höre ich diesen alten Mann mit seiner alten Stimme im Stil von amerikanischen Songwritern.
Das quietschen ist vorbei und die Texte könnte ich blind mitsingen, wenn sich Betonung und Rhythmik nicht so oft geändert hätten.
Ich weiß nicht was ich davon halten soll.

Glorious early Westernhagen, nitty-gritty Deutschrock. I personally find his quasi-punk vocal style on this record underappreciated. Not sure how many shouters walked the earth in '78 but Westernhagen was one of the finest.

The record may be a bit hit-and-miss, but a record with the ultimate fat-shaming-anthem Dicke and non-stop odes to freedom cannot be quite so bad.

A german rock classic, and still great after thirty years. (Actually I was pretty astonished that it was from 1978, I thought it was from the end of the '80s!)
