Indeed, 22.3 million people attended A&E Departments in the UK in 2014/15, an increase of 35% from the previous year. The only information Dan has about this patient is that he is a forty-nine-year-old male who has been involved in a road traffic accident. As he is arriving via HEMS, the patient has already been triaged as a 'Level 1' patient - that is, a patient who requires care immediately on arriving in the A&E Department.
