1) Companionship - provides a familiar partner and playmate, someone who is willing to spend time with them and join in collaborative activities
2) Stimulation - provides children with interesting information, excitement, amusement
3) Physical support - provides time, resources, assistance
4) Ego support - provides the expectation of support, encouragement, feedback
5) Social comparison - provides info about where the child stands vi-a-vis others, and whether the child is doing okay
6) Intimacy and affection - provides children with a warm, close, trusting relationship with another individual in which self-disclosure takes place
Has difficulty in learning that involves understanding or using spoken or written language, and the difficulty can appear in listening, thinking, reading, writing and spelling. To be classified as a learning disability, it is not caused by visual, motor, hearing, mental retardation, emotional disorders or due to environmental, cultural, or economic disadvantages.
