What does it mean if correlation coefficient is negative?
A negative correlation indicates two variables that tend to move in opposite directions. A correlation coefficient of -0.8 or lower indicates a strong negative relationship, while a coefficient of -0.3 or lower indicates a very weak one.
What if coefficient of determination is negative?
A higher coefficient is an indicator of a better goodness of fit for the observations. The CoD can be negative, although this usually means that your model is a poor fit for your data. It can also become negative if you didn't set an intercept.
Can the correlation of determination be negative?
Because the coefficient of determination is the result of squaring the correlation coefficient, the coefficient of determination cannot be negative. (Even if the correlation is negative, squaring it will result in a positive number.)
What value is the coefficient of correlation if the coefficient of determination is a positive value?
If the correlation coefficient is greater than zero, it is a positive relationship. Conversely, if the value is less than zero, it is a negative relationship. A value of zero indicates that there is no relationship between the two variables.
