No doubt that the 2008 film You Don’t Mess with the Zohan was a funny movie, but some of the biggest laughs came from its grossly inaccurate portrayal of Israeli culture. This includes brushing teeth with hummus, going out at night to the discotheque, and carrying stock-loads of weapons in an electronics store. But one of the most memorable examples is a soft drink called Fizzy Bubblech.
According to the movie, Fizzy Bubblech is a fruit-flavored soda with strong carbonation. While it gives Americans extreme gastronomical discomfort, the drink is enjoyed by Israelis and Palestinians alike.
Sadly, just like many aspects of the film, Fizzy Bubblech does not exist, nor does it appear to be a reference to any specific Israeli drink. The closest match is Fanta and its many tropical flavors, but even that is a stretch.
Yet a few weeks ago while shopping in a kosher supermarket, I discovered a drink that is pretty much Fizzy Bubblech, or the closest thing we’ll ever get to it. The name of the product? Jump Fizz.
Apple was not available at my grocery store, but I decided to buy the other two flavors. Red grapefruit was my favorite, a unique flavor that went well with any meal. I was less impressed by grape, though it tasted much better and less artificial than American grape soda. While highly fizzy (the product name does not lie), it was not too strong for my taste.
But taste aside, I cannot get over the fact that this is Fizzy Bubblech. I would be surprised if the manufacturer was not inspired by Zohan. Strong fruit taste, strong carbonation, even an unusually-shaped bottle design… how could it possibly be a coincidence?
So maybe Jump Fizz not exactly Fizzy Bubblech, but it’s close enough to cross off my list of fictional soft drinks to turn real. Next up is Slurm, Alamo Beer, and Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster.

Da hat sich Zohan mal wieder einen richtig guten Scherz erlaubt. Barkeeper standen da wohl vor einem großen Problem, denn es gab wirklich Menschen, die dieses Getränk haben wollten. Dabei stehen beide Wörter einfach für Kohlensäure, womit klar sein dürfte, dass es ein solches Getränk nicht wirklich gibt.
Dies bedeutet, dass es sowohl in Deutschland wie auch in Israel kein Getränk, das „Fizzy Bubbele“ heißt, gibt. Allerdings haben die ersten findigen Geschäftsleute Produkte kreiert, die einen ähnlichen Namen haben. Allerdings haben diese Produkte nur sehr wenig mit einem Getränk zu tun. Vielmehr handelt es sich hier dann um T-Shirts, die sich allerdings alle auf Zohan beziehen.
Also hat das nun wirklich nichts mehr mit einem Getränk zu tun, was für viele Menschen eine große Enttäuschung sein wird. Aber einige findige Barkeeper haben dann doch für ihre Gäste eine Lösung gefunden. Den Kunden wurde einfach Limonade serviert und somit hatten diese dann ihr Getränk, das es nicht gibt. Eigentlich schade, das hier noch kein Getränkehersteller reagiert hat. Der Markt wäre vorhanden, doch was nicht ist, kann ja noch werden.
Fizzy Bubbele – Fan Produkte
So wird dann auch eines der drei T-Shirts benannt, das es natürlich im Internet zu kaufen gibt. Aber ein guter Scherz kann dann ein eigenes Getränk mit diesem Namen immer sein. Also die nächste Party kann dann mit Fizzy Bubbele stattfinden, wobei dann das Getränk egal ist. Ob nun mit oder ohne Alkohol kann hier jedem selbst überlassen werden. Ein Scherz, der dann mal so richtig funktioniert hat, denn viele Menschen wollen Fizzy Bubbele kaufen.
Also einmal kurz erwähnt, ein Getränk mit diesem Namen gibt es nun wirklich nicht. Aber als Partygag kann gerne ein eigenes Getränk gemixt und dann als Fizzy Bubbele serviert werden. Das kommt bestimmt gut an, wobei das passende T-Shirt bestimmt gut aussieht. Ein Gag der wirklich gut angekommen ist, so wie das Fans von Zohan zu schätzen wissen. Somit hat Zohan wahrscheinlich das erreicht, was er in seinem Film wollte. Es wird über ihn und sein erfundenes Getränk gesprochen und gesucht.
